My name is Mark Bithell. I have been researching my own family tree since 2004 and established Back to the Past in December 2008.

I regularly visit Stoke-on-Trent City Archives and the Staffordshire County Records office along with using the extensive genealogical databases available to me via the Internet, using all available resources in my quest to add as many individuals to my personnel family tree as possible.

Over the last few years I have expanded my family tree to near 4000 individuals from all over the globe, from different walks of life, different social classes and as far back as Rolo the Viking, the invader of Normandy, in 880 AD. Also included in my family tree are Royals, including William the Conqueror and King Richard the Lion Heart.

Along the way I have hit brick walls but with my expertise and utilising the ever increasing resources available, I have managed to overcome 90% of my obstacles and furthered my research.

I regularly attend Genealogical and Social history talks and I’m currently undertaking further studies in the field of Genealogy. I am committed to continually improving my knowledge of Genealogy and other interconnecting subjects.
